Nigeria's Leading Civil Society Network Against Violent Extremism

Our Genesis

Born from Crisis, Forged in Partnership

Our journey began in 2014 when Nigeria faced escalating threats from violent extremist groups. Recognizing that fragmented responses were insufficient, the Office of the National Security Adviser brought together visionary civil society leaders to create something unprecedented. This coordinated network would amplify individual efforts into collective impact.

Our Approach

Violent extremism is a multi-dimensional challenge.

PAVE acknowledges that violent extremism is a multi-dimensional challenge requiring equally sophisticated responses. While we recognize the importance of security, development, and basic public services in health and education, we maintain our focus on specialized Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) strategies to avoid duplication and maximize impact.

Community-Centered Solutions:

We believe that sustainable peace must be built from the ground up, with communities as active partners rather than passive recipients of interventions.

Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration:

We bridge the gap between civil society, government, private sector, and international partners to create synergistic approaches that leverage complementary strengths.

Evidence-Based Programming:

Our interventions are grounded in rigorous research, local knowledge, and continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure effectiveness and accountability.

Inclusive Participation:

We prioritize the meaningful involvement of women, youth, and marginalized communities, recognizing their crucial roles in both vulnerability to and prevention of violent extremism.
